There is an air of the bittersweet to recall so many lost venues, but here, their place in the glorious history of our sport is recorded and celebrated. This fantastic database is a magnificent resource, one which will provide accurate information whilst evoking wonderful memories" - Crispen Rosevear (Autospeed Promoter)

Hello and welcome to the largest online database of short oval winners. I am Derek Smith and have been attending Stock Car meetings for well over 4 decades. As a super fan, I started collecting programmes about 30 years ago. I thought about doing a database listing the thousands of programmes BUT that was too easy, and so I decided to include the winners from each meeting too. To compile this comprehensive database, I have used my collection of programmes, visited The British Library (trawling their archives of local newspapers to find the results not included in my collection), used magazines and visited collectors’ homes up and down the country. It has taken decades to get to the point where I am ready to share my hours of work with you. If you can fill in any gaps in results (or come across any errors) PLEASE let me know. I welcome all feedback although please note that before I alter the results I will need to cross reference with another source.
I hope you enjoy browsing this website, Derek

By Clicking on the above "View Results" tab, this will take you to a Linktree page displaying the Stock Car Tracks. Each Track has a database recording the Race winners, stored via Google Drive. You can download the database, but you cannot amend it.
I am uploading the Tracks in batches, once they have been proof read. The first 30 are currently uploaded, and there are over 60 left to review. The hope is that by the end of the 2025, all of these will be available to view.
Column A lists the Track, Company and Name of Promoter and the dates of the meetings. Column B lists the programme or meeting number, as listed on the programme.
Column C will occasionally list where a Joint Programme has been used to cover more than one meeting e.g. J1 is the first joint programme of the year.
The Winner numbers are listed against the Heats (HT1, HT2 etc), the Consolation race (CON), the Finals (FIN).
H/S = Helter-skelter race
GN = Grand National race
DD = Death and Destruction race
# = race winner known but unsure of which heat or final was won.
Between 1954-57 you will notice that some of the race winners have both a number and an initial against the entry (e.g. 22-HB). This is because national numbering didn't exist until the late 1950s. In the above example Harold Bosworth is the driver, and he was given the number 22 for that race.
